While all those influencers go crazy for foliage plants and rare bits and bobs, I’m running completely in the other direction, towards the bright lights of pot plants!! You may cringing in your boots right now, and be imagining chintzy chrysanthemums (which I do love), but here’s a few slightly different picks… think about it, flowering pot plants cost about half the price of a bunch of flowers yet last twice as long…!
Indoor Primroses
You might’ve seen my work with ‘Flamenco’, the newbies from Rudy Raes in Belgium. Absolute beauts, of course usually planted outdoors, but why not try as a funky houseplant? Yes - they won’t last forever, but in a cool room, they’ll be amazing, brightly coloured and some have a sweet scent too!! Next big thing, I tell ya!

New Kalanchoe
It’s the Flaming Katy - popular in the 80s, but not completely reborn!! Slijkerman in north Holland have just released ‘Supernova’, a triple-flowered form. I love that it’s not pure white, the pink blush edges just look awesome! Flowering almost all year, and you can also switch it up and use it outside on the patio too.

Catharanthus ‘Soirée’
In the 80s, Catharanthus (or Vinca) were always listed in the houseplant section. Yet, with their recent rebirth, they’re really being marketed for outside: however I think ‘Soirée’ still have oodles of potential as a cute little pot plant. Could even rival Kalanchoe for ease of blooming!
