The old favourite houseplant that's having a comeback

I'm finally being topical for once, as I am gossiping about houseplants on 'National Houseplant Appreciation Day'. Boom!
So... there are many reasons to go to Wales, and this time I wasn’t going for laverbread. In case you don’t know what that is, look it up, it makes a nice burger with some oats. Anyway, I was in North Wales this time, visiting the people that were into houseplants before most other people. Dibleys! Lynne and her brothers took on her father Rex’s passion for the most colourful (and curious) of houseplants, the Gesneriad!
It’s about time we graduated from our obsession with foliage plants! It has done wonders for the industry, but as collectors go for more and more rare specimens, things are becoming a little out of reach for the everyday houseplant buyer. That’s why I think we need to explore a new dimension, and that is “houseplants that give beautiful flowers”. Step forward, Gesneriads (I can still stay that after a vodka, I’m pro)…
