"Every step of our production process is 100% made in France"
We go behind the scenes of cyclamen with Morel's Production Manager
Producing high-quality cyclamen seeds is a complex and carefully managed process, requiring precision at every stage. From pollination to packaging, each step plays an important role in ensuring strong, reliable plants that meet the needs of growers worldwide.
At Morel, all cyclamen seed production is 100% made in France, with strict quality control measures in place to guarantee exceptional results. But what does this involve on a day-to-day basis?
We spoke with Jean Froin, Morel’s production manager, to learn more about how the company maintains its high standards, adapts to challenges such as climate variability, and integrates new technology while staying true to its eco-friendly approach.

How is cyclamen production managed, from pollination to packaging?
At Morel, cyclamen production is a meticulous process. In November, we set up production in our greenhouses, organising male and female plant batches for the pollination and harvest season.
Pollination takes place weekly from November to March, carefully handled by our horticultural workers. After this phase, the fruits mature, and by May-June, the seed harvesting and cleaning process begins. The seeds go through multiple cleaning stages and drying periods.

Harvesting and packaging require extreme precision. A single misplaced seed in the wrong batch could lead to issues only discovered much later when sown! Cyclamen cultivation is a long cycle, taking around eight months from seed to finished plant.
