I'm just about to get on the ferry from the continent, but this is a great time for me to send you some fantastic plants spotted at this year’s spring edition of Plantarium|Groen-Direkt - THE event for European garden plant retail and wholesale at the International Trade Centre in Hazerswoude/Boskoop.
Bergenia ‘Shoeshine Rose’ by Colour Your World
If you've tried and failed with Hostas, how about trying Bergenia? Those leaves are unlikely to be attacked by slimy critters, and I really love the dark red colour of this particular variety! I think Bergenia are really coming into their own as a container plant, more so than the typical shade plant it’s known for being!

Volkamer lemon from Flores in Terra
Citrus is a really, really interesting area of growth, because they’re pretty easy to grow on the patio with winter protection, and we're really finding so many different varieties are being offered to us here and there, from Buddha's hand through to yuzu and bergamot - and this blushing lemon!

Bougainvillea
This is a really clever Bougainvillea idea - it’s trained as a dome, which makes it more accessible for the summer patio. Low maintenance gardeners will love its really nice “instant garden” effect, and of course, it’s everyone's favorite shade of pink! Ideal for those who are seeking a staycation this year, but still want the allure of exotic-looking plants!
