5 plants you must grow from the FlowerTrials
Plants that will brighten up your life!
I’ve been at the Flower Trials again - make sure that you follow my content on Instagram to see all the fantastic images from the event. If you do, you’ve probably seen that hosta as well, right?
It is the ultimate event for seeking out new plants, and I had a little walk around with QVC this year to see what unique plants we could start selling on shopping TV.
As usual, the hospitality was incredible, check out my unofficial awards to see who has the best sandwiches, etc!
Lily ‘Tintoretto’
This is an amazing lily - the second in the series, following behind ‘Apricot Fudge’. It’s actually a mutant, so it doesn’t produce proper petals, but that actually gives us a complete art form in front of us. It’s the type of lily you’ll either love or hate, but I really enjoyed salivating over it in the Onings trials.
The colour is much more rich than ‘Apricot Fudge’, and I predict a bright future for this with bouquets and adventurous florists.

Osteospermum Señorita ® ‘Lucia’
Onto more orange… this seems to be a very “now” colour! Osteospermums are really developing with the colours available, the double forms, habits - I’ve even seen one with a tiny flower like a Calibrachoa!
I really enjoyed these at Hendriks, who are probably the most prominent when it comes to new Osteospermums. This shade was super unique - I love the burnt orange tone.

Alyogyne
It looks like a Hibiscus, and it is indeed closely related, but it’s actually a very curious annual that you can grow in patio pots. De Zonnebloem really specialise in this type of unique patio plant that is perfect for summer displays. The colour of this is really divine!
